St. Maries Woodstove Changeout Program

Woodstove changeout programs provide financial incentives for homeowners to replace old, air-polluting woodstoves with new EPA-certified stoves, inserts, pellet stoves, or natural gas or propane units that burn much cleaner. Switching to a new, cleaner-burning woodstove makes environmental and economic sense. Using an efficient stove produces more heat with less wood and emits less pollution.
In Phase I of the St Maries Airshed Woodstove Changeout Program homeowners can get a financial incentive to change out old wood heating appliances with new cleaner heating appliances. Participants may be eligible to receive a voucher for the cost of a new heating appliance and the majority, or potentially all, of the installation costs when purchasing and installing a new qualified heating appliance from one of our approved vendors.
Phase 1 of the program will focus on low income households within the program boundaries shown on the map below. Future Phases plan to include all residents over a broader area of the St Maries airshed.
